| ELECTIVE AND NON ELECTIVE SURGERIES |
All surgeries are performed on site. Elective surgeries (spays/castrations/dental
procedures/mass removals etc) are scheduled usually for Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Female animals that have been spayed will spend the night in the hospital. Male dogs and
cats may go home the same day as their procedure, depending upon how quickly they
recover from anesthesia. We try to send animals home the day of their surgical
procedures when it is appropriate but there are times when it is in the animals/owners best
interest to have the animal restricted and monitored in the hospital overnight.
We use both injectable and inhalant (gas) anesthesia, the exact type of anesthesia used
will depend upon the procedure being performed and your animal's health at the time of
surgery. Pre-anesthetic blood work can be performed before surgery to help evaluate
your animal's health status and ability to metabolize anesthesia. In our surgery we can
monitor your pet during anesthesia with a pulse oximeter (blood oxygen level), EKG (heart
monitor), dinamap (blood pressure monitor), esophageal stethoscope and most importantly
the watchful eye of the surgery technicians. Electro surgery is also utilized in our hospital.
We recommend placement of an IV catheter for any animal undergoing anesthesia and
surgery to further protect them as well as providing supplemental hydration while under
anesthesia if warranted.
Our spay/neuter surgeries include placement of permanent identification of your pet if you
desire (tattoo or microchip). As well as removal of retained baby teeth, dewclaws and
repair of umbilical hernias if necessary. Your pet is monitored overnight if necessary, pain
medications and antibiotics are given at time of surgery and sent home with your pet if
necessary.

casting, splinting), ophthalmologic, bladder surgery etc. Please call us if you have specific
